The (Inter)national Seminar – “Rethinking the International Refugee Regime 75 Years Later from the Global South” – will be structured into three interconnected sets of activities. One first set will be the one developed within the scope of the 17th National Seminar of the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Chairs (CSVM). A second The set will be the one developed as part of the Spring School of the International Research Network on Refugees and Local Engagement (LERRN). And a third jointly, articulating the two previous ones, will be the one developed within the scope of the (Inter)national Seminar of CSVM and LERRN.
Rethinking the International Regime
Different critical analyses of the international refugee regime 75 years after its creation, considering, in particular, different situations and issues in and from Latin America.
Challenges of the contemporary world
The discussions aim to rethink the system in light of various (inter)national conflicts and geopolitical shifts, including rising inequalities, crises in multilateralism, the rise of the far right, climate change, and various environmental crises
South-South mobility
The reality of contemporary refuge is unmistakably a reality of the Global South. This event intends to shift the axis of analysis to rethink the international regime based on the experiences, responses, and contradictions of the South.
