International Seminar

The (Inter)national Seminar—“Rethinking the International Refugee Regime 75 Years Later from the Perspective of the Global South”—will be structured around three interconnected sets of activities. The first set will take place within the framework of the 17th National Seminar of the Sérgio Vieira de Mello Chairs (CSVM). A second set of activities will be held as part of the Spring School of the International Research Network on Refugees and Local Engagement (LERRN). And a third set, linking the previous two, will be held as part of the (Inter)national Seminar organized jointly by the CSVM and LERRN.

Challenges of the Contemporary World

The discussions aim to rethink the system in light of various (inter)national conflicts and geopolitical shifts, including rising inequality, crises in multilateralism, the rise of the far right, climate change, and various environmental crises

South-South Mobility

The reality of contemporary refuge is undeniably a reality of the Global South. This event aims to shift the focus of analysis in order to rethink the international system based on the experiences, responses, and contradictions of the South.
